Creative Writing Meeting Tuesdays at Beatnix
Starting this Tuesday February 21st, we will meet for creative writing at Beatnix. It's for all ages and all genres.
For now, the format will be: Meet promptly at 7pm to have open dialogue about what each person is writing or wants to write. Then, at 7:30pm, everyone disperses to go write for an hour. At 8:30pm we rejoin together to debrief about what each other has written and the meeting ends at 9pm. Jen and I decided on this after meeting with a teacher who wants to write but like all of us needs a good support group in which to share in the journey.
Tomorrow night, simply because I need a small victory in completing one of my writing projects, I shall devote the evening to work on my children's picture book called, Gus the Baton Twirling Octopus. I'm up to about 300 words with about 700 more to go. Since we have poetry night on Thursdays all poets or closet poets who want to work on and begin writing poetry can come out as well. If you're reading this and thinking to yourself, "What could I write about?", here's some ideas:
Poetry
Short Story
Novel
Novella
Non-Fiction
Science Fiction
Article for your church, work or non-profit organization
Business Plan
Grant
Songs
Research Paper
School Essay
Scholarship essay
TAKS test preparation writing
Press Release
Mission of your business or organization
Your autobiography
Your memoir
Children's Story
Pre-teen Story
Teen-Young adult Story
Inspirational Story
Sermon
Sermonette
Motivational Speech
and the list goes on
See ya on Tuesday night from 7-9pm
Maryee
We are no longer having the Creative Writing Meetings on Tuesdays. However, any day of the week is a good day to drop by Beatnix and meet up with creative folks to write. There's a lot of closet writers, poets, musicans, lyricists, and actors who come to Beatnix daily. Perhaps we'll start back up again in 2007.

HOT Poetry last night at Beatnix
I'm the hostess.
Last night we had 10 poets each read from 3-5 poems. We're working our way up each week!
Poet, Jack L. found out about the open mic poetry from Wayne S., whom they both participated in monthly poetry readings at Barnes and Noble here in Waco. Glad to have him out to share some of his original work.
New Poets every week! All ages welcomed!
